The 2nd Annual BrownGrass Festival will be held in Rabbit Hash KY on Saturday, July 16 from Noon to 11 PM.
The inaugural Browngrass Festival was held at the Southgate House in Newport last year as a CD release party for David Rhodes Brown's "Browngrass and Wildflowers" debut solo album and more importantly as a way to honor and benefit WNKU 89.7 FM radio. WNKU is a non profit publicly funded station dedicated to broadcasting an adult album alternative format, featuring live disc jockeys, BBC, NPR, World Cafe and live musical guests in the studio on a regular basis. WNKU also features live music performances from musicians in their studio on their youtube site, www.youtube.com/user/WNKU and local cable outlets.
The decision to move this year's festival outdoors was made to allow for a larger attendance as well as more bands and vendors in a family friendly atmosphere. This will be the first music festival in Rabbit Hash to utilize the permanent bandstand on the banks of the Ohio River.
There will be food, drink, and vendors along with almost 20 local and regional bands playing both inside The Rabbit Hash General Store and the outside stage. Music genres include bluegrass, folk, rockabilly, texas swing, country rock, singer/songwriter and blues, among others. Scheduled to appear are:
